The ankles and legs have spider veins small, visible veins that are formed near the skin surface. They are also called telangiectasias and are often blue, red, or purple-colored. Spider veins are formed when valves inside the veins fail to work properly, thereby accumulating blood into the veins and a noticeable web-like pattern on the skin arises.
