What is the Indian religion? – Ask Saint The Indian religion is a varied mix of multiple spiritual beliefs. Hinduism is the primary religion in India and is believed to be the oldest religion in the world, dating back to approximately 4000 BC. There are other belief systems practiced within India as well, including Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Animism. All these religions share some common values such as nonviolence, respect for all life forms, karma, reincarnation, and yoga. The practice of Hinduism involves the worship of several deities which include devotion to the Lord Vishnu and the Goddess Laxmi. Each religion has its own scriptures, sacred texts, philosophies and deities which followers devoutly adhere to in their daily life.
